Las Vegas Vacations
Las Vegas offers a variety of activities that make it an ideal vacation
spot for all types of vacations from weekend getaways to a family vacation.
In addition to famous Las Vegas hotel and casinos, Las Vegas places
to see range from museums to championship golf courses to shows and special
events. One of the latest downtown Las Vegas attractions is the Fremont
Street Experience, a spectacular show of lights and music.
More than 100,000 couples travel to Las Vegas to obtain a marriage license
every year which makes Las Vegas probably the wedding and honeymoon
capital of the world! The most popular wedding day is Valentine's
Day. New Year's Eve runs a close second.
Las Vegas and its neighboring vicinity offer a multitude of sports and
recreational activities from biking to boating to snow skiing. The mild
climate and natural playgrounds of the mountains and lakes offer visitors
a variety of places to see. Arrange for a car rental and explore all the
places to go in Las Vegas and the surrounding areas. Although Las Vegas
is known for many attractions, like year-round outdoor recreation, boxing
matches, and magic shows, and even with all the available recreational
activities and scenic attractions, it is the casinos and gaming that remain
the number one attraction for millions of visitors every year. Las Vegas
casinos offer the ultimate gaming experience.
This hotel/casino's architecture was inspired by castles in England, Scotland,
and Germany. It's full of family-friendly attractions such as the Fantasy
Faire, a dark but very large video arcade, and the Court Jester's Stage,
where magicians and puppeteers entertain small audiences. Kids love to
climb the dragons outside the Sherwood Forest Cafe, and the Tournament
of Kings is one of the few family-oriented entertainment extravaganzas
in town. Avoid taking a room in Tower 2 if you want to sleep before 11
p.m.; screams from the nearby New York, New York roller coaster may keep
you up. 3850 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas; (800) 937-7777; (702) 597-7777.
If your kids like Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean ride, they will love
this resort based on the tales of Robert Louis Stevenson. There's a pirate-ship
battle staged on Buccaneer Bay, a lagoon facing the Strip, and inside
there are plenty of talking skeletons and treasure chests. The resort
also boasts a large pool and game arcade and is home to Mystere, the Cirque
du Soleil production many consider the best show in town. 3300 Las Vegas
Blvd. S., Las Vegas; (800) 288-7206; (702) 894-7111.
This huge hotel has the feel of an international airport as guests wander
through its giant casino and adjacent restaurant row, theme park, and
shopping mall. If you want to enjoy a few hours without the kids along,
you can drop them off to be entertained at the 3,000-square-foot MGM Youth
Center; it's the only licensed child-care facility on the Strip and accommodates
children ages 3 to 12 for up to five hours. Activities include sports,
arts, and video games. Hourly fees vary. 3799 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las
Vegas; (800) 929-1111; (702) 891-7777.
